We passed a pair of foals, a pegasus and a unicorn, splashing in a puddle left by the recent rain shower. As the little unicorn magicked up a ball of water and tossed it at her friend, he hopped into the air to dodge it, then they fell into a giggling heap against each other, just enjoying their day together. Just watching them my heart felt a little lighter

You know, reading this again, how much trust is Hardy showing right here.... and what will the side effects be? I mean he just met Swift, and she's not being completely honest with her background. He looked over at Svelte and his cutie-mark trembled, Miss Stella is making him take a truth potion before she is willing to meet him. And all he really knows about the truth potion is that the seeds of the plant is poisonous. He's in a brothel. It's a lot of trust. And spoiler, it is VERY well placed, and very deserved. What they get from this will help so much down the line. But still, Hardy, Hardy is showing so much trust.
A sudden, unsettling thought occurred to me. “You mind if I ask what would have happened if I had actually tried to get in here with a warrant?”
He gave me a seductive wink. “You’d have gotten to take a longer tour and talk to me for a few more hours, then you’d have walked away with nothing. I wouldn’t have minded the company though.”
Yup, and honestly, this is kind of a fair response. I have head cannon that if Hardy had came back with a warrant eventually he would have explained why he was there in the first place and they might have given him a chance at the truth drink. Why, because he is trying to help him.

1142969 Tell you what. Come back in... a month and a half for hardcore noir stuff. Right now we're still in the lead-up to the main story. We made an early decision to start this story by pretty much writing the most stereotypical cop tale we could then taking it off the rails towards the end of the first act.
